As the self-proclaimed coolest people in this champagne bar/sneaker shop/fried chicken restaurant, we think it’s fair to say that Butter presents itself far more seriously than the clientele it attracts. Racial profiling aside, though, the service is super friendly and meant that the potentially gimmicky-cool vibe wasn’t carried all the way to completion.
And the food was dope. Cheezus up above (excuse the photography) was great, but the laced up okonomiyaki-esque fries below were delicious. I guess the fries were more of a vehicle for the classic kewpie-bonito-furikake-special sauce combo, but it was fun and tasty all the same. The chicken (which I forgot to take a photo of) was also pretty good, juicy and crispy – but not a mind-blowing affair.
As for the shoes, well, my main issue is trying them on – with a wine bar/restaurant high stool fit out, those sneaker heads are gonna struggle…
